An original and visually impressive bearer bond from the Kingdom of Bulgaria's 4 1/2% Gold Loan of 1909. This historic financial document, for a denomination of 500 Gold Leva / 500 Gold Francs (also detailed in other major European currencies of the period), is dated Sofia, 13th December 1909. It was meticulously printed by the renowned English security printers, Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. Ltd., London.

Features:

  • Large format with ornate borders and vignettes, including allegorical figures and a port scene, characteristic of Bradbury Wilkinson's high-quality engraving.
  • Multilingual text (Bulgarian, French, German, English).
  • Includes an amortization table on the reverse.
  • At least one original coupon for 1st June 1940 is visible, indicating the bond's long-term nature.

Condition: Good condition for its age (over 115 years old). The bond has its original folds, as is typical for such documents. There is some light overall paper toning and potentially minor edge wear, but the printing remains crisp and clear.

This is a fantastic piece for collectors of scripophily, particularly those interested in Balkan history, early 20th-century European finance, or examples of fine security printing by Bradbury Wilkinson. A tangible piece of history.
